The sound
"History man, what have you found?" - History Man
What of Plinth's history? Still a fledgling band in the debatable Nottingham scene, they certainly have their history behind them. A history of dubious Muse covers, petulantly angsty lyrics, and a hopeless clash of styles. That's the history, but not the present, for Summer 2004 saw the first lineup of Plinth disband, and split into two bands. And so the band you know as Plinth are new.
"I won't take these insults, I won't take these rumours." - Sentimental & Nostalgic
Retaining songwriter/singer Nick and bassist Edd, the two of them set of on a mission to recruit new members. And, lo!, by the end of October 2004, new members Al (drums) and Chris (lead guitar) had arrived. With this, Plinth went off in search of their new sound, and found a sound combining Chris's rich guitars with Nick's distinctive voice and melodic songwriting, lush musical textures to go with occasional grooves from Edd's bass and Al's drums.
"Think I'm ready for most things in life..." - Someone Dull
So, ladies and gentlemen, the Plinth of Autumn 2004 - massively reformed, with a new, richer, fuller sound, new songs, and a beginning. With new material expected in demo form by early Spring 2005, Plinth's future has never looked brighter. It's "Middle Class Indie" for all!
"And now I've landed on my feet again." - Vampire Obsessions
