Plinth - Nottingham Indie Band

Plinth Play Bandsoc Social

Plinth have been confirmed as opening the lineup for the next Nottingham Uni Bandsoc Social. It's at Junktion 7 on Wednesday 16th March, doors open at 8.30pm, it's £2.50 for Bandsoc members, £3 for everyone else. If you want to come, please come, it'll be the first chance to hear the new stuff, and should be a good show.

The Return of Plinth

Plinth return to the live stage on Tuesday April 19th at Junktion 7 in the Nottingham Uni Bandsoc Battle Of The Bands. In a heat that includes competition favourites Piano, it could be a tough heat for Plinth, but as far as a return to the live scene goes, the general opinion of the band members are very happy. The other bands in the heat are Piano, Colonel K, Knights Of Steel and Thunder, and Divided Persona. It'll be the first chance for y'all to hear the new songs, and the reworked versions of older songs.

4 Become 5!

Plinth have augmented into a five-piece after the addition of Rachael on keyboards. This has actually been in the pipeline for a couple of months, but now she's officially joined, so that's cool. Hopefully will add a bit of extra beef and a cool sound to the, err, current sound.

Nick And Edd Play Acoustic Set

Sorry we didn't put this on, but on Saturday me and Edd played a four-song acoustic set at the house party of Tom and Ben from Stickers For Kids (another local band). The performance went well, we played three new songs: Night Watch, It's Not You and Unrest, and then finished with Someone Dull.

Plinth return!

Plinth are back, after a summer's absence, with two new members. Chris joins us on guitar and Al on drums, and we're already working on some new songs. Can't comment much on the songs so far, but they seem to have taken an epic, expansive feel. Also, a new biog is available to look at on the biography page.

Track For Download

Plinth have been in the studio and the fruits of labour are here! What am I saying? Basically, you can now download the demo version of Someone Dull from the Audio section.

The Rumours Are True

Okay, I can now officially announce that the band known as Plinth will no longer function in the entity they are currently in. Lead Guitarist Ollie and drummer NJ are to leave for pastures rockier, while Nick and Edd will stay in the band. This decision was made by mutual consent, what with the band not really gelling on musical tastes' terms, and there's no bitter feeling between any of us. On the more positive side, we can announce that Dave Gostick will be interim drummer for the period starting next term (September). However, Plinth will still be recording a track for the Bandsoc CD and, hopefully, playing a farewell gig at Florence Boot Hall in June, but that is not yet confirmed.

God bless, guys. And don't forget to meet me at the gates.

Battle Of The Bands Results Announced

Well, the Battle Of The Bands heat phase reached its climax last night, and final placings were announced. Plinth did not make the final, but were in no real position to, finishing as it was 20th out of the 20 bands. Actual results can be found on the bandsoc board here, complete with points totals.

Recordings Update: Bandsoc CD

Hurrah! There's a decent chance some Plinth recording may be produced and see the light of day in the near future. Reason being, we're (hopefully) recording Someone Dull for the Nottingham Bandsoc annual CD, which is handed out at the Freshers' Fayre in the autumn. So. Not only will this be Plinth's first foray into the area of actual (real) recording, hopefully we'll have an MP3 for sticking on here so you can get your indie-rock-kicks while browsing the website.

Plinth To Make Live Debut

Plinth are making their debut very soon! Aside from Sunday's acoustic set at open mic night in Florence Boot Hall, we're playing the Nottingham University Battle Of The Bands on the 29th April at Junktion 7 in Nottingham (near the Ropewalk on Derby Rd.) Please please please come and support us, you may just be pleasantly surprised.

Also, our great bassist Edd is organising a bans' night in Florence Boot Hall towards the end of May/start of June. There'll be us, No Fire For Lucy, and a few others. More details to follow...

Welcome to our website - you probably guessed we're called Plinth. Feel free to explore around. Seeing as it's only just been set up there isn't a lot of content as yet, but more is being added all the time so keep checking back!
